Last week tumblr made me an editor of the new History tag (which is incredibly flattering and I really owe it all to you people), and since then several people have asked me about how to go about being featured on the History tag. So, while I don’t know about the other editors, here’s a general idea of what I look for when I’m surfing http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/history/everything:

-Actual original content. Images are just fine and can tell stories of their own, and likewise, content pasted in from another source is very nice as long as it’s credited, but I really like original content and analysis.

-Posts which deal with geographic areas outside of the “Western World.”

-Posts which deal with time periods beyond the last 200-300 years.

-Posts that deal with really specific, or not very well known events/people/things.

-Posts which approach history from a creative standpoint, using material from disciplines such as anthropology, archaeology, and literature in their analysis of history.

If you didn’t realize that History now has an official tag, you should check it out! Right here.
